Our First 24 Hour Event, Trip 5, Day 5

Rockin' Our Disney Side

On February 28th, Disney announced that they will be throwing another 24 hour event through their Twitter account. The day before of this event, we had ended our day early around 7 pm. As I was still on California time (although I’ve been in Florida for two weeks), it was quite difficult for me to fall asleep. Despite that, I was up and about at 3am on just about 3 hours of sleep.

Since we were not resort guests, we couldn’t park at a nearby resort and walk to the front gates, making the Transportation and Ticket Center as our only option. Also, since the monorails and the ferry won’t start transporting guests 5:15, we couldn’t arrive any early. We arrived at the TTC at 4:45 and directed to the lot closest to our destination. They had lines forming for the park monorail and the ferry boat. We lined up for the park monorail. There we met a cast member who is on the Disney College Program. His shift didn’t start until the end of the day, so he was going to experience his first 24 hour event. During cast member previews, he had the opportunity to ride Seven Dwarf’s Mine Train about 9 times straight.

As we arrived at the Magic Kingdom, we saw that the crowds had already formed right past the front gates. Upon walking in, we were given buttons that featured the Malificent movie.

The opening ceremony ended right before the 6AM opening and everyone made their way through the tunnels into Main Street.

After roaming around for 30 minutes, we decided to see if the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was soft opening. Lo and behold, there was already a queue building up. Although the wait was approximated to be about an hour from where we stood outside of the entrance of the queue, it only took up about half an hour to reach the train. There were several interactive elements placed in the queue, but we flew right by them as the queue was constantly moving. As this was probably my one ride through for a long while, we asked to be seated in the front.

I felt that riding on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train was a nice way to round out our trip. Even then, we tried to squeeze a few more rides into the limited time I had left in Florida.

To solidify my ability to protect Michelle from evil Emperor Zurg, I had to prove it on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. While I haven't reached the rank of galactic hero, this was my highest score yet.

We left the park before noon and to celebrate the recent events, we had lunch at Fogo de Chao. The last few moments are always the fastest. Before I knew it, I was already on the plane catching a flight to Anaheim, CA.

Next up, Disneyland and a wedding on the same day? You bet!
