Disney World Marathon Weekend, Trip 2, Day 3

Day 3: Race day near EPCOT

This one is a short one. Since today was the day Michelle's classmates were running in the marathon, we planned to catch a glimpse of them near the finish line at EPCOT. Doing so would finally have us in the park during opening. But as always, this wasn't the case. When we started our drive from the hotel, we noticed an unfamiliar noise originating from the engine compartment. When it was apparent that the sound wouldn't dissappear, we stopped by a WDW kennel, Best Friends Pet Care. Employees there directed us to call the Disney Car Care Center. We tried calling multiple times but could not get an answer. (It wasn't until we made a visit weeks later to find out that they are closed on Sundays.) After a while, we continued on our way to EPCOT hoping that the problem is something that we could take care later. As we neared EPCOT on Buena Vista Dr., the engine gave out while we were at a stop. Luckily, the entrance to the Walt Disney World Swan hotel was right around the corner. I was able to start the car again and make the last stretch to the resort entrance, while going at a snails pace and without power steering. We spoke to the valet at the Swan about our situation and one of them offered to identify the problem with the car.

The same person even offered to contact the Disney Care Car Center on our behalf, giving us the opportunity to explore the grounds. We were lucky to have stopped at the Swan, as it was right besides Disney's Boardwalk, where the runners would pass through right before heading to EPCOT. Not wanting to waste our efforts in making signs, we grabbed them from the car and headed towards a section of the route.

After we spotted our runners, we went to check back on the car. Three hours passed by and there still was no luck with reaching Disney's Care Care Center. So we decided to grab lunch that was within walking distance. Finding nothing of interest in the Swan, we walked over to the Dolphin hotel.

We decided on The Fountain, where Michelle ordered a custom burger and I got the classic BLT.

After we finished our lunch, we went to check back on the car. This time, the valet person was able to find an auto mechanic that performs house calls. An hour or two later, the mechanic arrived and fixed the problem with the car. But that wasn't the main problem. Fixing the main issue with the car was going to require a visit to the auto shop. So we had the car sent over to a shop in Orlando and rode back home with a few friends that happened to still be in town.

Next up, we make up for this day with another trip!
