Day 2: Morning magic at the Magic Kingdom
On this last trip, it has been our goal to get to a park at opening at 8 AM. On all of the previous visits, we either enjoyed sleeping in or had something catastrophic happen that prevented us from getting to the parks early enough. We arrived early enough to park at the very front of the Ticket and Transportation Center parking lot. At this point, we had about 15 minutes to get to the gates. No worries, it was just going to be a 3 minute walk to the monorail station and another 7 minutes on the monorail.
Making our way from the parking lot to the monorail station, we saw that the loading platform for the monorails were closed for now. So we queued up for the ferry like everyone else. By the time we set sail, it was 8:05. Oh well, maybe next time.
Since we were up so early, we wanted to hit the ground running. So we skipped the Peoplemover and jumped on Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.
A ride we haven't been on lately was Pirates of the Carribean. So we navigated our way over there. For this one, I decided to just take the experience in, rather than capture the moment behind a view finder.
We were initially going to grabbed some Tonga Toast at Captain Cook's located in the Polynesian hotel. But we delayed it until now so we can get in a ride or two.
The Tonga Toast is a huge slice of sourdough bread infused with cinnamon, sugar, and stuffed with banana. It's simply one of those Disney treats you have to try at least once, although I can have it everyday. You can find the recipe straight from Disney's blog. A single order was plenty enough for the two of us.
After having our well balanced breakfast, we went straight back to the Magic Kingdom. With nothing to do in particular, we strolled around New Fantasyland.
What's the best way to digest the Tonga Toast that we had less than half an hour ago, you ask? Well, it was to wait in line for Be Our Guest, which is going to open up within 10 minutes.
After having separate breakfast and lunch within a timespan of an hour, all we wanted to do was walk off our meals.
One thing Michelle wanted to check off on her list was getting a picture while holding a lot of Disney balloons. We passed the balloon wielding cast members that we saw because they seemed busy with guests.
Eventually, we spotted a cast member that looked like she was just getting started. So Michelle raced over to her as I straggled behind.
Since Michelle had school the next day and the Disney wifi isn't good enough for me to work with, we left quite early.
Next up, I'm not so sure. I fly back to California shortly after. Maybe the stars will align and I'll be back soon.
(Spoiler alert! I make another visit for Dapper Day!)
