The Calm Before the Storm: A Half Day at the Animal Kingdom
We headed towards Africa to use up our Kilimanjaro Safaris FastPass. For a rather early FastPass time, the queue was quite long and folded over itself.
With some time to kill before our next FastPass, we checked out the shop Mombasa Marketplace.
Just outside of the shop, a street performance was about to begin. So we gathered around to see all the commotion. Little did we know, this one has some audience participation.
While I'm not the type to openly volunteer, his stare enticed me to join in. It also helped that Michelle was already dragged into the performance. The first group consisted of the girls mimicking the moves of the main performer. It was then followed by the boys doing slightly more masculine moves, just slightly. Since we were both entertaining the crowd, we couldn't take any embarrassing pictures of each other.
There was not a better time to go on Kali River Rapids than after dancing in the mid-day sun with sweat running down your face. Luckily, we had FastPass reservations to do just that.
We have yet to have a turkey leg all week, so we set out to find a restaurant that serves it. Michelle somehow knew that the Flame Tree Barbecue was one of the few places that servers turkey legs, but that was only half the battle. Finding the location was a different matter as neither of us are that familiar with this park. In the end, we got the turkey leg we wanted.
Our last FastPass of the day was for a showing of Finding Nemo - The Musical. We had cut through DinoLand U.S.A. and arrived at the theater somewhat early, but not early enough to get the unobstructed seats that we were hoping to get.
To get some zzz's for the next day, we ended our day at the Animal Kingdom very early. Before we head back to the hotel, we dropped by Disney's Boardwalk. If you are a non-resort guest, you might have to explain your visit to the Boardwalk as I believe some guests might have used the area as free parking for Epcot.
Although I was ready for bed by 10 PM, my circadian rhythm was off by about 4 hours. I'll just hope that I can get enough sleep to get me through the morning.
Next up, rocking our Disney side at the 24 hour event!
